Scientific Name: Manilkara zapota, Sapodilla
Description: Manilkara zapota, commonly known as Sapodilla is a long-lived, evergreen tree. Cultivated specimens grow to an average 30 - 50 feet in height. The ornamental leaves are medium green and glossy.
Uses: The fruit known by a variety of names (chikoo, nispero, dilly, chicozapote, among others) is eaten fresh and has an exceptionally sweet, malty flavor. The fruit flesh ranges from a pale yellow to an earthy brown color with a grainy texture akin to that of a well-ripened pear.
