Common Name: Staghorn Fern

Description: Antler-like fronds give the Staghorn Fern its common name. Staghorns are epiphytes growing on trees.  You can keep your young plant in a pot, but eventually the basal fronds will cover the growing medium making it difficult to water so mounting on a wood plank or attaching to a tree is ideal.  Staghorn ferns make for eye-catching visual interest, not only because of their beauty but also due to the unusual way they're typically grown.
