Phyllarthron cauliflorum , Ultra Rare

Name:  Phyllarthron cauliflorum,  Rare Flowering Tree, cauliflorous

Description: Phyllarthron cauliflorum is an extremely rare plant from Madagascar belonging to the Bignoniaceae family. This medium sized understory tree has an unusual leaf structure, with a flattened petiole and glossy segments resembling an interrupted lime leaf. It is cauliflorous, meaning the flowers and fruit form directly on the trunk and branches of tree. In ideal conditions and after several years, tubular, trumpet shaped, purple pink flowers typical of the Bignoniaceae family will form on the trunk.
