Description: Medinilla Magnifica is a small evergreen shrub native to the Philippines where it is usually found growing on trees in tropical forests. In late spring to early summer, the plant is covered by it's famous drooping clusters of delicate pink flowers that look somewhat like grapes hanging from a chandelier. With the right care it can be grown as a stunning houseplant or patio attraction.

TOP NOTCH CARE TIPS:

SOIL - MEDINILLAS REQUIRE A WELL-DRAINING, SLIGHTLY ACIDIC AND RICH SOIL. USE A COMBINATION OF PEAT MOSS, PERLITE, POTTING SOIL AND ORCHID BARK. USE A NURSERY POT OR CONTAINER THAT HAS GOOD DRAINAGE.

LIGHT - BRIGHT, INDIRECT LIGHT. AVOID DIRECT SUNLIGHT, IT CAN SCORCH THE LEAVES.

WATER - KEEP THE SOIL EVENLY MOIST BUT NOT WET. DISCARD ANY EXCESS WATER SITTING AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SAUCER OR CACHE POT AFTER WATERING, EXCESS WATER CAN LEAD TO ROOT ROT. REDUCE WATERING IN THE WINTER.

TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY - KEEP HUMIDITY LEVELS, 60-80% THEY LIKE A WARM SUMMER AND A MILD FALL/WINTER. PROTECT FROM EXTREME HEAT AND COLD. TEMPS BELOW 60 CAN CAUSE SPOTTING ON LEAVES AND BELOW 50 MAY CAUSE THE PLANT TO DIE.

FERTILIZER - USE A SLOW RELEASE BALANCED FERTILIZER IN THE SPRING AND SUMMER. DO NOT FERTILIZE DURING THE WINTER.
