Dioon Edule Seedling
Names: Dioon Edule, Chestnut Dioon
Description: Dioon Edule, also called ‘Chestnut Dioon’ is a cycad, which are some of the oldest known seed plants in the world. The stiff, upright foliage emerges from a spikey cone and ranges in color from blue green to bright green. An extremely low-maintenance plant, on the verge of becoming endangered can be kept as an unusual house plant or an outdoor attraction.
Care: Dioon Edule will tolerate full sun in cooler climates but it prefers partial shade, especially in hotter zones. If kept indoors it should receive bright light. A moderate amount of water to keep the soil moist is best. The plant will slowly become drought tolerant as it ages. Reduce watering in winter slightly, but prevent the soil from totally drying out. Good airflow in more humid conditions will reduce the chances of fungal issues.
NOTE: The item pictured is similar to the plant you will receive. Plants are unique; the shape, size, color and number of leaves may sometimes vary. Contact our shop if you have any questions. All Plants and Fruit are grown with care on a small family farm in South Florida.
